Hi!  I’m Coach Virginia.
Like most Americans, I grew up eating a standard American diet, filled with processed foods and lacking a good amount of fresh produce.  Although I have never struggled with being overweight, my poor diet and lack of regular exercise made me “skinny fat”.  In 2005 I was introduced to weight lifting and also began making healthier food choices.  Since then, I have increased my knowledge of fitness and nutrition, and in 2008 I began competing in Figure, and later in Fitness as well.  To date, I have competed in many fitness and figure competitions sanctioned by the NPC, ABFF, and NANBF.

As I’ve continued my journey toward becoming fit and healthy, I have learned the truth about what is allowed in the American food supply and how important it is to read labels on packaged food.  It is my goal through my practice to help others dispel common food and diet myths, and learn what foods and cooking practices will help them achieve their desired goals.  No shakes, pills, or gimmicks!  I advocate real food and healthful methods of cooking.

As I’ve learned more about what our bodies require to acquire total wellness and peak performance, I have also delved into natural and holistic health information as well.  My curiosity has led me to learn more about essential oils, and the natural wellness solutions they can provide.  I began using doTERRA essential oils in April 2013, and am currently a Wellness Advocate with doTERRA.  You can learn more about doTERRA essential oils by visit my doTERRA website.

As I learned more about fitness and nutrition, I knew I wanted a more focused learning experience in order to use my knowledge and experience to help others make positive changes.  I received my training from the Institute for Integrative NutritionI, where I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. I have also received the Precision Nutrition Level 1 certification, where I studied how nutrition affects sport and exercise performance and body composition. Drawing on this knowledge, I will help you create a completely personalized “roadmap to health” that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals.

With over a decade working in the railroad industry as a conductor and engineer, I am able to relate to coaching clients in the railroad, trucking, and airline industries.  I understand the strain that working on call, odd hours, and spending a lot of time away from home and in hotels can cause, and how it impacts sleep, stress level, health, and family life.  It’s not easy to make choices that foster a healthy lifestyle when healthy food options and preparation time are scarce, but it IS possible!  I can use my personal experience and tips I’ve learned over time to help you reach your health and fitness goals amidst similar conditions.

Since becoming a mother in 2012, I have had a passion for working with new and expecting moms throughout all stages of pregnancy and beyond.  During your low-risk pregnancy, I can help you choose safe and healthful food and exercise options that will help you grow a strong, healthy baby and help your body prepare for labor and birth.  We will work together along with your provider to help you develop the right birth plan for your family.  Having done so myself, I can help you lose the baby weight in a safe, healthy way.  I was able to win 5th place in a figure contest five months post-partum without affecting my breastfeeding ability or supply, and drawing from that experience I can help you reach your post-partum goals by using appropriate exercise and real, nourishing foods
